TECHNICAL ANIMATOR

Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Develop, test and maintain complex animation systems in conjunction with animators, gameplay programmers and other team members as required.
• Provide technical support on the animation tools and Unreal Engine systems
• Assist in the design, integration and validation of animation assets
• Create and maintain state machines and other relevant systems utilizing animation blueprints in Unreal Engine
• Develop technical animation pipelines and tools to deliver cutting edge animations
• Creating tools and setups within Maya to assist artists
• Define how elements within projects will interact, build, transition and function from the concept stage, to final implementation
• Creatively and proactively solve resource-restricted tech challenges (ie exporters)

The Ideal Candidate Will Have a Mix of the Qualifications Below:

• Must have 3+ years of experience as a technical animator, in the gaming industry
• In-depth knowledge of Maya’s animation toolset and the Unreal Engine animation pipeline
• Experience creating animation tools within Maya, using Mel/Python scripting
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently for extended periods
• Strong understanding of character and set animation pipelines
• Proficiency in rigging and skinning
• Keen on performant FX
• Comes with other skillsets, such as shading

• An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games
• Proficient in C++
• Unity Engine Experience
• Experience working alongside outsource teams
• Experience working with Virtual Reality platforms such as Oculus, HTC, and PSVR
• Has worked in both AAA and Indie environments
