VFX Supervisor

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Management and successful completion of the VFX during production.
• Effectively communicate VFX recommendations and needs while demonstrating savvy on-set etiquette.
• Act as a liaison between the clients, producers, or director while establishing strong client confidence.
• Responsible for the design and execution of on-set visual effects work for an episodic series and/or feature format, while maintaining Director’s vision and working within budget.
• Strong understanding of green screen/blue screen set-ups and photography.
• Identify when tracking markers and witness cams are needed (or not).
• Obtain relevant set measurements and various kinds of reference material, including photographic reference, HDRIs, photogrammetry and 360-degree photography.
• Data wrangling and transmitting set data back to the studio in an organized and timely fashion.
• Troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced schedule, while being able to remain calm and organized. 
• Scheduling of effects production and potentially estimating/bidding new work.
• Flag overages and conceptual changes that would affect the VFX Bid.

• Provide mentoring and training of Jr. Set Supervisors and Data Wranglers.
• Regularly update senior management to show status weekly.
• Maintain a highly professional demeanor and level of diplomacy.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience with in-house and on-set VFX Supervision.
• In-depth understanding of strategies for shooting plates that enable the successful integration of CG elements.
• Solid data wrangling skills.
• Excellent communication skills, artistic skills, problem solving skills and time management.
• Proven ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
• High level of experience in an episodic television and/or fast paced environment.
• Strong understanding of VFX technologies.
